Bone Health

  • Bone health is dependent on factors such as diet (calcium and vitamin D content), exercise and hormones (oestrogen, testosterone and parathyroid hormone {PTH}). Any abnormalities in above can lead to Osteoporosis and Osteomalacia which causes bones to soften and fracture. Menopause and drugs like steroids and may also cause osteoporosis. These are the common bone diseases that endocrinologists diagnose and treat.

     Bone disorders that can occur:

    • Osteoporosis / Low Bone Mineral Density

    • Vitamin D deficiency

    • Parathyroid adenoma (High PTH) 

    • Hypoparathyroidism (Low PTH)
